We currently have an opportunity for an Assistant Commercial Manager to join our team based in Exeter. Joining us on a full-time permanent basis, you will receive a competitive salary of £30,000 - £40,000 per annum plus excellent benefits.
 
About the role
 
As our Assistant Commercial Manager, you will be part of a team responsible for delivering the commercial management strategy through day-to-day contract administration, promoting best practice, and generating a professional, collaborative relationship with our supply chain partners and colleagues. You will support the delivery of contracts in the most efficient manner, to specification, within time and budgetary constraints and without risk to the health and safety of all concerned, while delivering satisfactory outcomes for all key stakeholders and customers.

What you'll be doing:

    • Maintain systems to monitor commercial KPI’s and incentives and produce monthly reports as requested by the management team in conjunction with the Programme Performance Team
    • Support the Lead / Commercial Managers in maintaining performance specifications and cost models for AMP8 procurement and beyond. This will involve co-operation with delivery partners and contribution to our ‘business as usual’ cost data capture systems
    • Assist with the reporting of a performance management system for continuous improvement and provide support to the audit programme
    • Provide & support estimating input to the CEDAR process, consulting with cost consultants to ensure anomalies in findings are resolved and that appropriate target setting is achieved
    • Support the procurement and tendering process to ensure contracts are awarded in a timely manner in accordance with procedures
    • Support the Commercial team in awarding and delivery of contracts, ensuring governance is met and financial systems are updated accordingly.
    • Checking contract compliance and budget constraints
    • Build and maintain stakeholder and contractor engagement

What we are looking for:

    • Knowledge and experience of construction contracts and estimating
    • High level of interpersonal skills to enable effective working at all levels
    • Good attention to detail, strong organisational skills and a team player
    • Ability to deliver results through cross functional working
    • Full UK drivers’ licence
    • HNC as a minimum or preferably a Degree in Civil / Commercial / Quantity Surveying or equivalent with at least five years’ experience (desirable)
