Job overview

Applicants are invited for a part time Consultant Dermatologist post. The post holder would be joining a forward looking, expanding dermatology team, who are looking at innovative ways to address the rising local demand across Torbay. The plan for future dermatology services across the ICO includes more joined up care and an expansion of community-based clinics for patients requiring specialist input without secondary care facilities.

We are looking for a committed, team player who is enthusiastic and proactive. Application from an established Consultant or trainee within 6 months of obtaining Certificate of completion of specialist training (CCST) is welcome. Applicants should hold full GMC registration.

Our broad and inclusive team comprises: 4 Consultants, 5 Speciality Doctors, 2 CESR trainee and a Specialist Registrar. In addition, the team consists of six highly skilled specialist nurses, phototherapy nurses, admin staff and dedicated Dermatology HCAs. The department benefits from a  Dermatology department with all team located within the same vicinity, which sits on the edge of the main hospital site.

Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust is looking to appoint a dynamic, innovative and forward thinking full-time (10 PA per week) Consultant Dermatologist.

The successful applicant will join existing Consultants, Dr. Hannah Cookson (Clinical Lead), Dr Clement Ng, Dr Rosie Davis and Dr Alice Walker. The wider team consists of, 5 part time specialty doctors, 2 CESR trainee, a visiting Registrar , 8 specialist nurses, 3 skin cancer nurse specialists, dedicated HCAs and a GPVTS trainee shared with Rheumatology.

Torbay Hospital is a medium sized, progressive and innovative District General Hospital providing acute services to South Devon. We are situated about 2 miles from the centre of Torquay and the dermatology department is based here.  The Trust invested in new purpose-built Dermatology facilities and offices in autumn 2017. The Dermatology team now have dedicated consultation / examination suites, 2 minor surgery rooms, phototherapy and team offices. This is located in a separate building at the edge of the hospital site.  Additional minor surgery rooms have been retained in the main outpatients of the hospital, along with access to the paediatric outpatient facility.
