Job Title: General Operative

Salary: Monday to Friday - £15.00 per hour // Weekends £18.75 per hour
Summary:
We are looking for a hardworking and reliable General Operative to assist pipefitters and coded welders on a new-build industrial project. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the mechanical installation team, helping to ensure the safe, efficient, and timely completion of work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist pipefitters and welders with the installation of stainless steel and carbon steel pipework.
- Move, handle, and position materials, fittings, and equipment around the site.
- Prepare pipework and welding areas, including cleaning and basic setup tasks.
- Use basic hand tools and power tools as directed.
- Support with rigging, slinging, and safe manual handling of pipe spools and equipment.
- Maintain site tidiness, manage waste disposal, and organise materials.
- Perform basic measurements and mark-outs under supervision.
- Follow site safety rules and ensure all tasks are carried out safely and responsibly.
- Assist with basic fabrication tasks where required (e.g., cutting, grinding, prepping pipe ends).
- Work closely with the site supervisors, pipefitters, and welders to meet project deadlines.
Requirements:
- CSCS Card
- Previous site experience in a construction or industrial environment preferred.
- Basic mechanical or construction skills.
- Familiarity with hand tools, grinders, and small plant equipment.
- Good level of physical fitness for manual work.
- Understanding of site health and safety requirements.
