Location: Exeter, Devon

Salary:£25,467 per annum (pro-rata)

Contract/Hours:Permanent Part Time – 20 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 1pm-5pm or 1.30pm-5.30pm) 

Closing Date: Midnight of 20th June 2025

A bit about the role  

We are looking for a Kitchen Assistant who is passionate about the importance of nutrition in an early years setting. Being part of the nursery team, you will adhere to our healthy eating menus, assisting the Chef to; plan, order and prepare meals for children ensuring that hygiene standards are adhered to.

 

What you’ll be doing

In the role of Kitchen Assistant, you’ll be:

  • Assisting our Cook in planning healthy meals, that are nutritious, varied and tasty, taking into account the children's dietary and cultural requirements
  • Keeping waste to a minimum, to keep our impact on the environment as minimal as it can be, and costs are kept low
  • Taking responsibility for the kitchen being kept clean including dishwashing duties daily after every meal/snack time
  • Taking responsibility for compliance with all relevant food hygiene and Health & Safety requirements
  • Always following latest legislation in relation to food and food hygiene and taking part in all necessary and required training as needed

 

What we need from you    

In the role of Kitchen Assistant, we’re ideally looking for someone who has: 

  • A Basic food hygiene certificate
  • A passion for cooking and creating healthy balanced meals
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Experience in a similar role working in a catering environment would be advantageous
