An opportunity has become available on Dunlop ward for a Registered Nurse.

Our skill mix ensures safe staffing levels are provided to meet the needs of our patients. Dunlop ward is an acute  Cardiology ward with a high turnover of patients. Cardiology is largely long term condition management of heart failure.

Our Team are seeking highly motivated and proactive RGN's who are looking for a new challenge in their career. We require our staff to provide high quality care to acutely ill patients with complex conditions. In return we provide a supportive and learning environment, full induction and preceptorship alongside opportunities to develop your career further.

This is a Full-Time position and will include working night as pro rata.

 

Advert

  • To take part in all clinical aspects of Dunlop Ward and to meet  the needs of the patients and their families. To develop a positive, realistic and supportive attitude to the patient.
  • To take part in the development, implementation and to continue updating evidence based guidelines and policies.
  • Document and evaluate care given and discuss progress, condition and treatment with colleagues, escalating concerns of the patients’ changing health care needs.
  • Act as an advocate for staff, patients and relatives at all times.
  • Develop the ability to contribute to the on-going development of nursing practice.
  • Make appropriate referrals and collaborate with members of the inter-professional team in the care of patients and their carer’s.
  • Supervises junior staff: student nurses, and assistant practitioners.
  • Promote a safe clinical environment for all patients, visitors and staff.
  • This post has no financial control; however development of knowledge regarding budgetary control and appropriate use of resources is required.

Working for our organisation

The Torbay Cardiac Centre incorporates a triage room for emergency admissions, chest pain observation unit, coronary care unit, pacing room, and inpatient coronary care. It also has a dedicated cardiac catherization laboratory where our consultants carry out angioplasties and angiograms.

Dunlop Ward contains 16 cardiac beds and is situated in the Cardiac Centre. All patients are admitted under the care of one of the cardiologists and are cared for by cardiac trained nursing staff. There is a consultant ward round every weekday. There are no age limitations for admission to the cardiac wards. Urgent non-invasive investigations are available same day on request.
