Are you an established staff nurse looking for an exciting and challenging carrier in Emergency Nursing?

If so, Torbay Emergency Department is looking for you!

We are looking to recruit enthusiastic, motivated and dynamic nurses who can demonstrate commitment to the provision of high-quality person-centred care. You will have responsibility for managing a cohort of patients within the emergency department, whether that be in majors, ambulatory emergency care or the Resus room.

You will communicate closely with the department coordinators, in order to deliver safe, evidence based and effective care. You will be expected to work closely with the medical team and other agencies, including The Ambulance Service, to ensure safe, prompt and appropriate care delivery. You will be confident and have an understanding of the national targets for the delivery of Emergency Care.

This post is  flexible, working to meet the needs of the patients and the  department, under the instruction and supervision of the Silver Registered Nurse and Band 7 nurse. You will also support junior colleagues through on-the-job teaching and pastoral care.

Working clinically to ensure the safety and quality of the care given to your designated patients within the emergency Department

Supporting and working with colleagues during the shift

Liaising with the wider MDT to maintain safety

Helping to facilitate the development of the service as part of the wider team

To participate in discussions and projects that will benefit the team, the patients and the department as a whole

Working under guidance and in conjunction with the senior nursing team and the departmental Matron

Following the Department’s and Trust’s Policies and Protocols to ensure the safety of the department

Working for our organisation

The nursing team consists of both Adult and Paediatric nurses and work alongside Advanced Nurse Practitioners and Advanced Paramedic Practitioners who mange the Minor Injuries service within the department. Supported by Assistant Practitioners and Healthcare Assistants.

The medical team and nursing team work together to ensure the safety of patients and staff within the department.

Practice Educators who offer a multitude of learning experiences tailored to the needs of the ED,  led by an experienced Emergency Nurse,  facilitate in-house training for the clinical skills required by nurses within the ED, and is also  responsive to the developmental and educational needs of all the staff.

The requirement for the delivery of safe, high quality care is at the heart of all we do, and we take great pride in the professionalism of the team and our work.
