Exeter City Football Club is a special club with over 20 years of Supporters’ Trust ownership something we are very proud of. Our ownership model places our supporters and community engagement at the forefront of everything we do and we are proud to have a special place in the heart of the community. Trust ownership is reflected in our commitment to balancing on-field success with long-term sustainability and we have a remarkable track record of nurturing talent through our Academy, promoting players to the first team, and maximising their performance. In addition to the success of our Academy and men’s team Exeter City Women successfully transitioned into being fully managed by the Club in 2024 and were promoted to the third tier of women’s football in the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division in 2024.

Role
Working as part of our Stewarding team you will report to our Safety Officer and be responsible for assisting with the delivery of an enjoyable and safe experience for all spectators. You will be required to maintain a high level of customer care and provide practical assistance both inside and outside of the venue. You will be representing the Club, so it is essential you present yourself and the Club in a positive and professional manner at all times.
Stewards must have excellent communication skills as you will need to undertake instructions from the Safety Officer, Deputy Safety Officer and Steward Supervisors. You will also need to be capable of directing any communication e.g. any safety issues and customer feedback through the correct channels effectively and efficiently.
A dynamic approach is required as there are numerous positions within the vicinity of the stadium where Stewards may be deployed. Steward’s positions will be allocated on a match-by-match basis and are subject to change.
A professional appearance is essential ensuring care and attention of personal presentation, and a good level of physical fitness/mobility is required as the role involves long periods of standing.
Hours will primarily be Saturdays 1.15pm - 5.15pm and Tuesday evenings 6pm - 10pm but may vary based on home fixtures and role.
These casual worker roles offer a fantastic opportunity to earn some extra money as seasonal roles they may fit around an existing job or be a great opportunity if you are studying in the city at the university or college or within the local area (our city centre location offers good transport links). This may also be a great opportunity if you have taken a career break and are looking to get back into work or looking for your first job, whatever your circumstances if you are willing to learn and can work effectively as part of a team one of our matchday roles may be the right role for you.
We are proud to pay Real Living Wage which is currently £12.60 per hour which is the rate independently calculated based on rising living costs including fuel, energy, rent and food. As a Real Living Wage employer we have chosen to pay the rate of pay as recommended by the Living Wage Foundation which promotes paying workers an hourly rate that ensures they have what they need to afford everyday life.

Our Matchday Steward roles will require a DBS Check and two references (one being from your current or most recent employer) and you must be able to prove your eligibility to work within the UK. These checks must be completed prior to commencement of work.
