Your new career
Be part of a collaborative team that keeps Council’s information organised, accessible and secure. 

Our Records Management Team ensures compliance with the Public Records Act while helping staff confidently manage both digital and hard copy records. 

As our new Records Management Officer, you’ll play a hands-on role in keeping things running smoothly — from supporting colleagues with our electronic document management system (EDRMS) to safeguarding the information that underpins Council’s work for the community.

You’re a detail-driven and curious professional who takes pride in accuracy, organisation and great service. You enjoy problem solving, working with systems, and supporting others to do their best work. Most of all, you value teamwork and the trust that comes with handling information responsibly.

  • Confidence with technology and digital recordkeeping tools

 

Key selection criteria
Mandatory qualifications, experience and requirements

  • Experience in records management or similar role.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of records management processes and systems, including knowledge and experience of EDRMS – preferably Content Manager.
  • Completion of a Certificate course in Records/Business/Administration or more experience in a similar environment.
  • Data entry experience and high attention to detail.
  • Follow established work practices and be accurate in the capture of metadata.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a small team.
  • Experience in Local Government.
  • A current Working With Children Check
  • You have the permanent right to live and work in Australia
  • Police Check results that are suitable for this position (will be arranged by Surf Coast Shire Council). 
    A complete international criminal history check is required if the person has worked or lived overseas for any period of time OR a complete national criminal history check is required if the person has only ever worked in Australia.
