Lead a dedicated team that makes a real difference in our community.. As Team Leader Ranger Services, you’ll guide a passionate group committed to:

  • supporting residents,
  • protecting public spaces,
  • and upholding Council’s local laws. 

Your leadership will help foster a proactive, community-focused approach to education and compliance, ensuring the safety, amenity, and environmental integrity of the Surf Coast.

What you will bring to the role
We are looking for a confident and community-minded leader who is passionate about building strong teams and delivering positive outcomes for the Surf Coast community. 

You’ll be someone who leads by example, is calm under pressure, is fair and consistent in decision-making, and committed to fostering a respectful and safe community through education and engagement.

To thrive in this role you will have: 

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in compliance, law enforcement, or a community-focused regulatory environment.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and support a team to deliver consistent, high-quality service.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations relating to animal management, local laws, and compliance.
  • Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to engage and educate diverse community members.
  • Well-developed organisational and reporting skills, including experience managing rosters, investigations, and incident responses.

  

Key selection criteria
Mandatory qualifications, experience and requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Law Enforcement or relevant discipline (Qualification Check conducted) with some relevant experience or a lesser qualification with substantial in an area relevant to this position.
  • Knowledge of Magistrates Court and Infringements Court procedures.
  • Knowledge of legislation related to Parking, Animal Control and Local Law enforcement
  • Possess or able to obtain a current Victorian Shooter’s Licence.
  • A current Working With Children Check
  • You have the permanent right to live and work in Australia
  • Police Check results that are suitable for this position (will be arranged by Surf Coast Shire Council). 
    A complete international criminal history check is required if the person has worked or lived overseas for any period of time OR a complete national criminal history check is required if the person has only ever worked in Australia.
