Contract: Full time

Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 08:45 - 15:45, term time only

Salary: Starting at £100 per day (depending on experience and qualifications)

We work in partnership with one of their highly regarded specialist schools based in Dawlish, set within a stunning woodland and coastal setting. We are currently seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Secondary Teaching Assistants to join their supportive team and make a real difference in the lives of young people.


 

This unique school provides outstanding education and care to students aged 3 - 19 with a range of complex needs, including Autism, communication and interaction challenges and learning difficulties. Secondary students benefit from a highly adapted curriculum, specialist interventions and holistic therapeutic support.


 

The Role:


 

As a Secondary Teaching Assistant, you will help create a nurturing, structured environment that supports academic, social and emotional development. Working closely with teachers and therapists, you will:


 

  • Support students within the classroom, helping them stay engaged and make progress
  • Deliver small-group and 1:1 interventions tailored to individual learning needs
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students, acting as a positive role model
  • Provide social, emotional and behavioural support to promote confidence and resilience
  • Assist with the preparation of lesson resources and classroom displays
  • Help monitor student progress and contribute to Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) reviews 
  • Supervise students during break times and transitions around the school site


 

What We’re Looking For:


 

  • A positive, empathetic and enthusiastic approach to supporting young people
  • Previous experience supporting students with SEN is desirable
  • Confidence in managing a range of additional needs including Autism, ADHD and communication difficulties
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills 
  • A proactive, adaptable and resilient attitude with a sense of humour and creativity
